Orwell w Portmoak

Orwell Parish Church

Built on the present site from stone from the old Orwell Kirk at Loch Leven, it was a low thatched rectangular construction with six windows and earthen floor. The church was rebuilt in 1769 when the roof was raised, the north wing added and the galleries built. The present windows, floor and seats were installed at the time. The bell in the west gable is sited in an architecturally interesting bellcote and is now electronically operated. The old organ was replaced in 1992 by a digital Allen organ. The graveyard has a number of interesting grave stones and is now owned and maintained by the council.
