Cargill - Burrelton Parish Church
The parish of Cargill was created by the Bishop of Dunkeld in 1514. The parish church was sited on the banks of the Tay at Cargill, now a hamlet. The present building was the former Free Church built c. 1847. It is a modest, pretty building in local Keithick stone and features an attractive bell tower. Its setting is, reputedly, amongst the most attractive in Scotland. The Free Church re-united with the Church of Scotland in 1929 to become Burrelton Church which united with Cargill Parish Church in 1981. |
