Crieff Parish Church
Guest speaker at Crieff Parish Church on Sunday 19th June was Rob Jones, who has been the church’s partner missionary in Malawi for six years . Rob has worked as the head pharmacist at Nkhoma Hospital and he also lectured in clinical pharmacy at the University of Malawi. Rob described the difficulties of providing well-organised health services in a very poor country, where malaria and other tropical diseases take a heavy toll of the population. At a time when the economy of Malawi is weak the population of subsistence farmers are struggling to earn a living wage and can ill afford the expense of medicine. Rob Jones is now returning to the UK with his wife Ritu and their three children, and the Rev Andrew Philip gave thanks for all the work done by Rob and his wife and wished them well as a new phase of their life begins. After the service Rob had lunch with the congregation , and met Mary Dick–Smith, the great granddaughter of David Livingstone, the great Scottish missionary and doctor who explored central Africa.
